Keeping Mentally Well

I am still on my journey of being fabulous after 40, as I try to be physically, mentally and spiritually healthy. Hopefully, these small articles I share with you, helps you as well.

6 Principals of Keeping Mentally Well ....
  • Perfection, is an eternal goal, not an immediate goal (be accepting of ones self as you grow)
  • Control - less is more (focus on what you CAN control, not what you can't)
  • We can be freed from the effects of sin (strive to be spiritually connected)
  • Changing thoughts can change feelings (negative thoughts create negative emotions/behavior)
  • Wellness is balance (rest, exercise, healthy eating, service, and finding joy)
  • The Atonement brings healing (divine love can make us whole)

The 6 myths of Happiness

Do you want to be happier? Do not believe these myths;
  •  Either you have it or you don't
  • Happiness is a destination
  • You always adapt to your happiness set point
  • Negative emotions always outway the positive ones
  • Happiness is all about hedonism
  • One size fits all
True happiness finds joy in life. Challenge your happiness, make it more meaningful. Find happiness in serving those around you, in finding joy in the things that you do. Assess your strengths and find activities that promote those strenghts. Smile and give love to those around you.  ( Annie Stuart, WebMD)

Starting out......

So, here I go. I was going to start this several years ago and never finished it. I read my nieces blog all the time and it is so ceative and fun. This year is a celebration fo 40's for me. My sister just turned 40 and we have really enjoyed celebrating her beginnings of the F word. (forty & fifties people, get your mind out of the gutter) Reminds me that 40 is not old! I enjoy exercising more, reading, my family and the earth. What do you find more enjoyable the older you get?
